Gansey Booties

An intermediate level pattern, with traditional patterns and textures, these cozy, warm booties evoke a fisherman’s gansey (or guernsey). Charts for each section are given, as well as written directions. Personalize your booties by choosing a seed stitch or a garter stitch sole and choose from a selection of designs for the cuff or use your own! Pattern gives directions for five sizes (ranging from newborn to 24 months). Using fingering weight yarn & fine needles, the firm gauge produces the warm fabric traditional in the seaman’s pullover. A neat twisted cord tie finishes the booties.

You’ll need between 15 and 40g of any fingering weight yarn, but choose a solid colour to really show off those textured stitches. The pattern includes charts for the foot, instep & cuff (as well as written directions) and links to tutorials for techniques needed.

Knit up some warm and cozy booties now!
