Main part of hat:
- Cast on 72 stitches on US 11s (8mm)
- Added an extra row of purl in CC at the beginning
- Instead of carrying the CC stranded over the MC, I actually knit those stitches in CC
- Added a round of knit in MC as a sixth row to the Cable St. Pattern (same as Row 3)
Crown:
- Rnd 1: as per pattern (63 sts)
- Rnd 2: [With MC, k4, with CC k2tog, with CC, k1] to end (54 sts)
- Rnd 3: With MC, k to end
- Rnd 4: With MC, [k4, p2tog] to end (45 sts)
- Rnd 5: With MC [k4, p1] to end
- Rnd 6: [With MC, C4F, with CC, k1] to end
- Rnd 7: [With MC, k1, k2tog, k1, with CC, k1] to end, break off CC and continue in MC only (36 sts)
- Rnd 8: K to end
- Rnd 9: [ssk, k1, p1] to end (27 sts)
- Rnd 10: [C2F, p1] to end
- Rnd 11: [k2tog, p1] to end (18 sts)
- Rnd 12: ssk to end (9 sts)
