Kathie Popadin has recently graduated (December 2010) with an MLIS from the University of Alabama’s School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS).

Kathie is currently employed full-time as a library/media center assistant at Stafford High School, Stafford Springs, Connecticut, and part-time as a library assistant at Hall Memorial Library in Ellington, Connecticut. Her primary responsibilities are cataloging, reference, circulation desk management, technical support to staff and students, readers’ advisory, and technical services workflow coordination.

Kathie has always been an active volunteer in her personal and professional life and has most recently volunteered as a layout editor for Library Student Journal where her responsibilities were to create HTML documents for the online publication of journal articles, to enter metadata into the online publication system (a Dublin Core-based scheme), and to select subject terms from a controlled vocabulary to enable searching and browsing.
